Silent Power for Trucks and Buses

It's already entirely possible to operate long-distance e-bus and e-truck fleets reliably in everyday use. Siemens is providing the high-power charging infrastructure that enables this shift. Ongoing projects with haulage companies and transport associations are proving just how efficient and dependable these solutions are – setting strong examples for the industry.

When you visit Nanno Janssen GmbH haulage company in Leer in northern Germany, it’s immediately clear that this is no traditional depot. For a site where 500-horsepower trucks are in constant motion, it's unusually quiet. Instead of loud diesel engines, electric trucks glide across the yard with a soft buzz.

Nanno Janssen is the fifth generation to run the company, and the sixth, his son, is already preparing to take the helm.

“Together, my son and I discussed what the future of our company should look like. We quickly agreed that we wanted to switch to electro mobility.”

says the 58-year-old boss. And they acted fast: by the end of the year, 50 of the company’s 80 trucks will be electric. Now, when the bright red semi-trailers roll out of the yard, you can almost hear only a quiet whirring – no roaring engines or exhaust fumes, just the smooth hum of electric power.

The rest of the fleet is set to follow by 2030, with a few exceptions – like the crane truck, which will continue running on diesel for specialized operations.
