Why We Need to Address Decarbonization

Aging Buildings

Large buildings are used longer than other buildings, and older buildings use more energy. The key to energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction is ensuring that these buildings can be maintained, retrofitted, and energy managed successfully.

Energy Intensity

Buildings consume about 40% of the energy produced in the United States. Additionally, a third of a building’s energy use is from HVAC, and energy demand for cooling will more than triple by 2050.
