Funding will accelerate the development of innovative connectivity solutions that enhance grid resilience and support the energy transition.

Splice N Connect Inc ("Splice N Connect"), an innovative Calgary-based startup focusing on modernizing North America's electrical grid, is pleased to announce the first close of its pre-seed funding round led by Avatar Leadership Fund ("Avatar") at $1.2m; with the final close of $1.75m expected to complete in Q1 2026. Avatar is joined by numerous Canadian investors and major industry partners.

Splice N Connect was founded to tackle one of the most pressing vulnerabilities in energy infrastructure – the lack of visibility at cable connection points, which accounts for more than 55% of grid failures. As electrification accelerates and demand surges from artificial intelligence, data centers, and renewable integration; this blind spot represents a critical reliability risk.

The company, spun out of the 2023 Avatar Studio, is commercializing a proprietary, non-invasive smart-sensing device and analytics platform that delivers real-time visibility into underground and above-ground cable connections. Its systems enable utilities and large industrial users to predict faults before they occur, optimize maintenance schedules, reduce costs, and enhance reliability across modern distributed power networks.

This milestone follows on a string of successes – including winning Decentralized Energy Canada's 2024 Pitch Competition and being accepted into the 2025 Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Rockies Cohort and VentureLAB program.

The funds raised will support completing the development, testing, and piloting of Splice N Connect's proprietary monitoring solution – a crucial step towards enhancing grid resilience and enabling a smarter, more reliable energy future.
