Funding Available
DEC is providing funding to support the development of community energy projects in Alberta’s rural and indigenous communities. Five eligible communities will receive a grant for 50% of the costs of community energy training and/or project development support. Deadline to apply is October 30th, 2020.
Must be a rural* or indigenous community**
Must complete a community energy project statement of interest.
Must have community directive to explore community energy project feasibility (Letter from community decision-maker).
Must have budget confirmation to cover training or project development fees.
*Rural community – a community that is not designated as census metropolitan area (CMA). Alberta only has three CMAs: Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge. All other communities in Alberta are eligible for funding.
**Indigenous community - Includes First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. There are 8 Métis Settlements and 48 First Nations eligible for funding in Alberta. More info here.
